The Matapiro Estate spans 72 hectares and has over 18,000 trees. We operate a sustainable grove ensuring that our oils are never chemically tainted.
Our grove is a family-run business. We both cultivate and bottle the oil on-site. It’s our aim to continue producing the best extra virgin olive oil in New Zealand.
Our grove sits on the bank of the Ngaruroro river. The river provides more than just scenery as we use its water to supplement our annual rainfall of around 750mm.
The estate is situated in Crownthore, 30kms west of Hastings. We welcome visitors by appointment and hope that you don’t hesitate to see the beauty of Matapiro for yourself. We have nine varieties: Frantoio, Picual, Leccino, Koroneiki, Barnea, Pendolino, Picholene, Manzanillo and Corolea. When you buy Matapiro extra virgin olive oil, youre buying a taste distinction that can only be matapiro. We will never source fruit from anywhere but our own trees, such that we maintain the highest level of quality.
